The BLPS@Home Early Years Reading Program will help your child fall in love with reading and get introduced to the wonderful world of storybooks. We believe that stories help kids become more empathetic and confident adults and that it’s never too early to pick up a reading habit!

Our Little Learners with Big Ideas (LilBI) early childhood curriculum prioritizes high-quality live engagement that is recommended for early learning and was developed in classrooms in Indian schools. The Early Years virtual reading program is based on this curriculum. Our storytellers will introduce a new storybook from this curriculum each week and engage the kids through live storytelling sessions, read-alongs and hands-on art and craft activities designed around the book. Each storybook in the curriculum is designed around the themes recommended by the NCERT.

By the end of the month, your child will be able to read the books prescribed in the program with ease and confidence!

I am happy that he was later able to independently sit. He is generally very fidgety and am hoping to develop his listening skills and to be able to focus. I felt he was adapting to the ease of response and interactions by you

Top 5 reasons to read storybooks

Does your child prefer video games to books? Maybe they’ve just not found the right book! Does your child love to read but is currently missing the company of fellow book-lovers?

The BLPS@Home Primary Years Reading Program will get your child to love to read, comprehend difficult text and give them access to a whole community of book lovers.

The Book Lovers’ Program for Schools (BLPS) was built to help children develop their reading skills and exercise their critical thinking capabilities by encouraging discussions and cultivating independent thinking. Over the last decade, we’ve helped over 2 lakh children acquire a reading habit through engaging storytelling sessions that make them ask “And then what happened?”. The answer – “Go read the book and find out!”

This is the first time that BLPS is being made available to you, directly, at home!

Every week, our storytellers will introduce a storybook through an extremely fun storytelling session, conduct readings and discuss the book. We understand how valuable having the right company is for your child, especially at a time like this. A peer-community bolsters self-confidence and enhances the entire experience of reading.

Our goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for children to express their views on the books they’ve read. These book club sessions also ensure that children learn to listen to their peers and engage with views that might be different from their own. This holistic approach will simultaneously improve their reading skills, comprehension and critical thinking which are all very valuable skills required in the 21st century.

The Young Writer’s Workshop

Next batch:

The upcoming batch of the Young Writer’s Workshop will start on Saturday, September 19th!

Writing is a key skill required in all professions today and it’s best to start early. If your child loves to read and is full of stories, but is hesitant to write them down, we can help!

The BLPS@Home Young Writer’s Workshop (YWW) will help your child transform his love for reading into advanced writing skills through a comprehensive program supplemented with writing prompts and constructive feedback by professional authors.

This workshop is presented to you by Multistory, the company behind the children’s publishing house Ms Moochie Books. Ms Moochie has published over 50 titles including the beloved Ramu and Ramya series as well as the hugely popular Merry the Elephant series. We also curate the Best of Indian Children’s Writing (BICW). We know good writing!

The YWW Program was first developed by professional writers in collaboration with the Hindu Young World for Schools. The intention was to break down the process of writing for young readers to make it more accessible and non-intimidating for them. If they loved to read, they could learn to write, just like their favourite authors.

Our in-house experts will offer a step-by-step program that breaks down storytelling to its basic elements. By writing regularly on offered prompts and through a process of appropriate feedback from genuine mentors, kids improve their ideas, structure their thoughts better and will be able to transform their learnings into the written word. At the end of this workshop, you can enjoy reading your child’s stories!

Schedule

The Young Writer’s Workshop will happen on Saturdays at 5 PM. Each session is 1.5 hours long with a 10-minute break in between.

Over the years, we’ve worked with top schools like P S Senior and DAV in Chennai, NPS in Bangalore, Global Public School and Rajagiri Public School in Kochi, KNMS and Brindavan Vidyalaya in Trichy, C S Academy and Chinmaya International in Coimbatore, Pushpalatha in Tirunelveli, etc. We are popular in South India but have worked with schools in NCR and Mumbai as well. Schools that don’t use BLPS often use our collected learnings which we distribute free in our ‘Create Your Own Reading Programme’ ebook.

In a typical school year, we supply schools with over 50K books and our travelling storytellers conduct over 50 storytelling workshops and tell stories for over 500 hours each. But this is not a typical school year and our kids are locked out of schools and stuck at home.

What is the BLPS Method?

For children to fall in love with reading, we need to entice them with great storytelling and a good selection of books. We also need to create a community around the reading habit. The BLPS method is a combination of many small things that collectively make these happen. In short, it’s a combination of storytelling, activities, and storybooks. The storybooks are carefully chosen and the storytelling is done in an exciting and engaging way to encourage reading (and not just entertain) and bring the community together.

Getting kids to read is not an exact science where we can apply an algorithm since every child is different. So the way we look at it, the BLPS Method is a combination of what we’ve learnt in the last 10 years, on what works and what doesn’t in engaging kids and getting them to fall in love with reading.

How is Ms Moochie connected to BLPS?

Ms Moochie Books is a publishing house with over 40 children’s books in the market, including the bestselling Ramu and Ramya series. In the children’s books industry, writers write manuscripts sitting out of their desk in AC rooms and editors imagine whether kids will like those manuscripts. But Ms Moochie editors send the manuscripts to storytellers to tell in school and collect feedback from children. Because of this process, Ms Moochie books are better designed and are more loved by children. BLPS uses a lot of Ms Moochie books in its recommended storybook list.

Full disclosure: While Ms Moochie and BLPS are different brands, they are both promoted by the same company – Multistory Learning Pvt Ltd.
